According to a Libyan rebel – a former Libyan Air Force transport pilot – in the video below, this road cut off at the Tunisian border, has been converted into a two-mile airstrip (3,500 meters) to receive rebel aircraft such as C-130 or Antonov cargo aircraft which could be resupplied with weapons and ammunition.
However, the rebels would not use this freshly painted runway if NATO or the USA did not give them permission to land on this brand new airstrip:
